Manage Your Fear and You Can Manage Entrepreneurship

Are you afraid of becoming an entrepreneur? Is that stopping you from taking your first step? First of all, be assured that you are not the only one. Most of those successful entrepreneurs about whom you rave now were once as much scared of it as you are now. But they had a passion and saw a purpose in entrepreneurship. That is the first step to get over your fears. We are sure you do have passion and purpose. Then why wait.... go ahead.
What are your fears after all? If you analyze well you may realize that your are scared of the following things:
1. Lack, incomplete, limited and ambiguous data, information and intelligence: Thinking that you will ever have a fully comprehensive information about anything is a utopian thought. If you wait to get complete information you will keep waiting throughout your life. You will have to learn to make do with the best possible information that you can and you should seek. You will never know enough to say that you know everything. Yet, you will have to continually update your information base of the related topics and concerns. But do look before you jump, it will be foolish to jump in a deep well knowingly.
2. Fear of failure, being laughed at, poverty and death: Consider the worst scenario of it all. Will you die if you fail as an entrepreneur? The real answer is: never. Poverty: yes, but perhaps a temporary phase. To fight out this fear, make sure that you continue with your existing steady job that is giving you some bread and butter now. Do not kick the job in your emotional over-enthusiasm and excitement of becoming an entrepreneur. Do a parallel run. If your new entrepreneurial project starts generating net revenue equivalent to your current net pay check for a consistent period of an year or more of the parallel run, quit your existing job and concentrate of your entrepreneurial project fully. If you are married and if your spouse is earning, let him/her continue doing it. Save. Save for the rainy day- a possibility (though remote) associated with your entrepreneurial journey. If you can save enough money to tide over a period of entrepreneurship of zero returns, this money deposit can be used to give yourself and your family a comfortable life style. And hope, you have maintained a cordial relationship with your parents. If everything else crumbles around you for a temporary period, you can always fall back on your parents. What for are the parents, after all? Fear of being laughed at and failing? It's a reality- it will happen to you time and again. But ultimately if you keep working smartly and consistently, you will succeed and you will be the one who will laugh.
So go head. Don't stop. Take the first step to start your thousand miles journey.
